Matthew the Tax Collector called

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude came to him, and he taught them. And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said to him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meal in his (Matthew's) house, many public officials and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said to his disciples, How is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he said to them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but those that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.. Mark 2:13-17

Jesus discusses fasting

No man puts a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new makes a tear, and the piece that was taken out of the new does not match with the old. And no man puts new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desires new: for he says, The old is better. .. Luke 5:33-39

Man with 38 year infirmity at Pool of Bethesda

After this there was a Feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whoever then stepped in first after the troubling of the water was made whole of whatever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he said to him, Will you be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steps down before me. Jesus said to him, Rise, take up your bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for you to carry your bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said to me, Take up your bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said to you, Take up your bed, and walk? And he that was healed did not know who it was: for Jesus had went away, a multitude being in that place.

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, you are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father works, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.... John 5:1-18

The Disciples pluck and eat kernels of wheat on the Sabbath

And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the wheat fields; and his disciples plucked the kernels of wheat, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands. And certain of the Pharisees said to them, Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days? And Jesus answering them said, Have you not read so much as this, what David did, when he was hungry, and they which were with him; How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone ? . Luke 6:1-4

The Man with the Withered Hand

And when he left that place he went into their synagogue: And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. And he said to them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other. And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. Mark 3:3-6
