W ... Do you have a hint to the 10/40 window in terms of missions?

Pastor Nelson ... The 10/40 Window is an area of the world that contains the largest population of non-Christians in the world.  The area extends from 10 degrees to 40 degrees North of the equator, and stretches from North Africa to China.
W... In 1 Cor.14, Paul is stating that it is a digrace for a women to speak, today so many women are stating that they have been called to preach. Interpret this for me. What is the role of women in the church?

Dear Mary, Continuing on from verse 35, Paul says that wives were not to cause confusion by asking their husbands questions during the Church service. If they want to LEARN anything ask their husbands at home.. He quotes the Law in Genesis 3:1 "The husband is the head of his wife." Paul does not say that women cannot pray, prophecy or testify, { see 1Cor 11:5 and Acts 2:17 } The role of women in the Church is defined by Paul in Titus 2: 3-5 ... The older women are to live holy, be not slanderers, not given to much wine, be teachers of good things, this is what they are to teach the younger women : to love their husbands, love their children, be discreet, be chaste, be good house keepers, not gad-abouts, be good, be virtuous, be obedient to their own husbands. (See our women's page at www.wcie.net/women.htm) ....hope this helps

Acording to my Pastor and Associate Pastor, women can not become pastors, they quickly rattle off scripture which I have then looked up in my bible. I do not clearly see this. I have then been told that I do not know how to "rightly divide the word of truth" when I ask them to explain in detail why women can not pastor a church. Could you please explain this so that I can understand it and please give me scripture references.

Dear Debbie, .... Your Pastor was probably referring to I Timothy 2:12-14...12.."But I suffer not a woman to teach nor to usurp (The Greek word for usurp is "authenteo" which means to have power over or to dictate to) authority over the man, but to be in silence. ( Not to interrupt the speaker in the public assembly when they did not understand something).13..For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14..And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. .... The explanation is given by Paul in verse 14..that Adam was not deceived but the women was deceived.

I need some help. I am taking comparative religion course, and my professor asked us to see if we could find the only place in the Old Testament that God is spoken of in the feminine sense. He said that is very specific! Its a woman's quality. Please help,. Thank you so much

Dear Grant, I feel this is a "trick question" The Trinity is portrayed as male in the Bible, that is all three are addressed as " He ". Since God created woman He knows all about woman's qualities. So when He wants to express a quality in His own nature, this is not difficult; but that does not make Him female.

There are several places in the Bible where God does this. The most famous being when Jesus said "O Jerusalem, how I would have loved to gather you under my wings as a hen gathers her chicks ...and you would not" God also refers to Israel as both a son and as a virgin daughter ... hope this helps.

W .... WHERE CAN I FIND THE SCRIPTURES ABOUT THE WAR IN HEAVEN, WHEN THE DEVIL WAS CAST FOREVER FROM HEAVEN

Dear Travis,.... In Luke 10:18 Jesus said, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." This refers to the casting out of Satan when he invaded heaven from earth long before Adam. (see Isaiah 14:12-14; Jer. 4:23-36; Ezek. 28:11-17) Satan has since then regained dominion of the earth by Adam's fall but he will again be cast out in the middle of Daniel's 70th week as shown in Revelation 12:7-9. This war in heaven will be the last struggle between Satan and God over the possession of the heavenlies, where Satan reigns. Satan will never again enter heaven to accuse the brethen. This war is still to come.

W... God is a spirit, and Jesus is the son of God, savior of the whole, the atoning sacrafice for man. On the great white throne at Judegment, who will be sitting on It? God or Jesus. This is puzzling me as the Apostolic doctrine teaches that it will be Jesus only.

Dear NJ, ... God will judge by Jesus Christ. The Father will decree, the Son will execute (Acts 10:42; 17:31; Rom. 2:16

A.. God the Father (v12; Heb. 12 23-24; 13;4; Rev. 6:10 Rom.2;12-16)

B...God the Son (Jn.5:19-27; Acts 10:42; 2 Tim. 4:8; Rev 19:11)

W ... Were the names of the wisemen mentioned in the NT? Are the three wisemen mentioned in the old testament? If so where are they located? Thank you.

No, They were wisemen in the NT, that is 2 or more - they brought 3 gifts - no one knows how many wisemen there were, nor their names.... See Mesopotamia at www.wcie.net/bible.studies.htm/sg5.htm

W ... What does the bible say about hitting a woman ?

Dear Jennings, .... You do not strike people without a very good reason, perhaps self defense. You do not strike a pregnant married woman for ANY reason because God cares for the unborn child. People that harm unborn children in the womb will have their own limbs torn off or their skull cracked open and their brains sucked out as is done in partial birth abortion. This is called "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" and is a part of the 42 death penalty sins ( murder, kidnapping, cursing or striking parents, drunkedness, incest, homosexuality, lesbianism, backsliding, consulting psychics etc.etc. ... which reduced crime and reduced the need for prisons. In the case of the tooth it pertained to hitting a pregnant married woman ...see Ex 21:24, Lev 24:20, De:19:21 .. many of these sins are also condemned in the New Testament ... See 613 commandments at www.biblestudent.com

W I am most grateful for this site. Thank you! My question is about Hebrews 12:1 and its interpretation, in particular, who the cloud of witnesses are. Thanks again. Loretta

Dear Loretta,.......... we also--as well as those recounted in Hebrews 12:11.are compassed about--Greek, "have so great a cloud (a numberless multitude above us, like a cloud of witnesses surrounding us." The image is from a "race," an image common even in Palestine from the time of the Greco-Macedonian empire, which introduced such Greek usages as national games. The "witnesses" compare to the spectators pressing round to see the competitors in their contest for the prize (Philippians 3:14). Those "witnessed of" (Greek, Hebrews 11:5,39) become in their turn "witnesses" in a twofold way: (1) attesting by their own case the faithfulness of God to His people (Hebrews 6:12), some of them martyrs in the modern sense who give additional spirit to the combatants, so the cloud of witnesses who have themselves been in the same contest, ought to increase our earnestness, testifying, as they do, to God's faithfulness.

weight = As through a disciplinary diet, laid aside by candidates for the prize in racing; so carnal and worldly lusts, and all, whether from without or within, that would impede the heavenly runner, are the spiritual weight to be laid aside. "Encumbrance," all superfluous weight; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life, and even harmless and otherwise useful things which would positively retard us (Mark 10:50, the blind man casting away his garment to come to Jesus; Mark 9:42-48;

the sin which does so easily beset us--Greek, "sin which easily stands around us"; It is not primarily "the sin," but sin in general, with, however, special reference to "apostasy," against which Paul had already warned them, as one to which they might gradually be seduced; the besetting sin of the Hebrews, UNBELIEF..... with patience--Greek, "in persevering endurance" (Hebrews 10:36). "run" - compare 1 Corinthians 9:24,25.

W Great site! I am doing a study on wizards, the occult and Satanism but I am having a hard time finding facts. Can you please help.

Wizards are mentioned in the Bible, which forbids placing one's trust in their supernatural tricks. wizards do not seem to have been very impressive. They are lumped in with snake charmers in Deuteronomy 18:11 and with fortune tellers and 'diviners' in Leviticus 19:31. not demons. However, they were sorcerers. This was not always true of witches.

The word 'wizard' is definitely in the Bible. It comes from the same root word as 'yiddeoni', the 'wise or knowing ones', also called 'kenning men' and 'kenning women'. at the time of Moses these people were clearly no more than tricksters, and if their tricks were real they used familiar spirits (daevas or daemons), which is sorcery. The Pharaoh's magicians in Exodus were using familiar spirits. But there was nothing wrong with being a magician. Magic was the science of magi, and the converted ex-wizards who became Zoroastrians were permitted to remain magi until the advent of Christianity, even though sorcery was forbidden to them.

The wizards of northern Europe were Chaldees who came to the realization that their religion was not the right one, for in 37 A.D. they converted en masse by order of the high council, and every wizard from that central international body down to the local village wise man converted to Christianity, along with all the congregations. ...After 37 A.D. there was no wizardry in the north. It ceased to exist, and its former members obliterated all records through which it could be revived.

According to Webster, the word "sorcery" means "magic; enchantment; witchcraft; divination by the assistance or the supposed assistance of evil spirits, or the power of commanding evil spirits."

After 37 A.D. many former wizards entered the fledgling Church and became monks. They and the people to whom they ministered continued to teach the sage advice on secular matters for which the northern wizards had become famous, and the descendants of their congregations still bring up children with this advice. It has brought these descendants a strength which seems to be lacking in many other cultures, and their affection for the sages of the north continues unabated .. "Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts." (Rev. 9:21) "And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived." (Rev. 18:23)

One might expect murder, fornication, and theft to be widespread sins in the last days because we see a continual increase of these sins with every passing year. But notice that a fourth sin is mentioned as well: sorcery. According to God's word, we can expect to see an increase in sorcery as the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ draws near. ... One does not have to look very far to see that God's word is being fulfilled before our very eyes. Along with numerous other Biblical signs that our Lord's return is near, we are also witnessing a tremendous increase in occultism. Much of this is obviously due to the way many books, movies, and television programs are glamorizing such evil practices as witchcraft and wizardry. God's word clearly condemns all such practices, yet millions of people, especially young people, are being led to believe that it is possible to be a good witch or a good wizard. Nothing could be further from the truth. ...Satan is playing a very nasty trick on our children. Books such as the Harry Potter series are presenting two kinds of witches and wizards: evil ones and good ones. The books and movies offer a "built-in" contrast so that no one looks elsewhere for a contrast. That is, the "good" witches look very good compared to the "evil" witches. The psychological effect is that the mind of the reader or viewer becomes satisfied with the "fair balance" and sees no reason to look outside the movie or book for more accurate information. Consequently, millions of people will read a Harry Potter book and never read the Bible to see what God says about witches and wizards. For example, after watching the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, one young girl said, "Yes, there is witchcraft, but it is mostly goodwitchcraft." Good witchcraft? Who said it was good witchcraft? God certainly didn't give anyone this impression, so it must have came from the movie or the books. Sadly, this young girl has only been given one side of the story: the Hollywood side. the promoters of this wickedness have maintained a very closed mind by never telling anyone what God's word says about witchcraft and wizardry. After reading this tract, you will know God's side. Hopefully, you will be smart enough to realize that you've been deceived by filthy rich producers and publishers. They've fed you a massive lie, and you've paid them for it. The money they received from you will help empower them to sell their lies to others in the form of more books and movies.

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do." (Deuteronomy 18:10-14)

"Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times . . . Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God." (Lev. 19:26, 31) "And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people . . . A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them." (Lev. 20:6, 27)

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." (Gal. 5:19-21)

"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." (Exo. 22:18)
