Moreover
the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take thou also unto thee principal
spices, of pure myrrh
(1)
five hundred shekels, and of
sweet cinnamon
(2)
half so much, even two hundred
and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus
(3)
two hundred and fifty shekels,
And of cassia
(4)
five hundred shekels, after
the shekel of the sanctuary, and of
oil olive
an hin:
And thou shall make it an oil of holy ointment,
an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy
anointing oil.
(Exodus 30:22-25)
The
holy anointing oil compounded any like it, it’s holy, it’s pure, and it
shall be holy unto you!
There is so much to reveal about the Holy Anointing Oil in Exodus
30:22-33.
What is the purpose of the Holy Anointing Oil? Although, I will not claim
to have any authority of accuracy, I simply would like to share the
information I have acquired through many years of research and prayer. May
the
Holy Spirit
reveal the truth in your heart as well!
Pure Myrrh is a
fragrant
gum
used in the holy anointing oil;
which comes from the stem of a
low, thorny, ragged tree growing in Arabia and East Africa. It
is a reddish-brown resinous material, the dried sap of the tree
Commiphora myrrha. The scent of raw myrrh resin and its
essential oil is sharp, pleasant, and somewhat bitter and can be
roughly described as being "stereotypically resinous". The "holy
oil" traditionally used by the Ancient Hebrews for performing
the sanctification and unction is traditionally scented with
myrrh!
The word pure means: free flowing! The best exudes
spontaneously from the bark! This substance is mentioned as a
perfume. This is one of the ingredients of the holy incense.
The
inferior comes more abundantly by splitting the bark.
It has
a faint though agreeable sweet smell, but a bitter taste!
(Suffering & Death)
(also in John
19:39).
It was also used in the mixer for to balsam
Jesus’
body.(John 19:39)
Also we read in
Revelation 8:3-4
about the Holy incense with the prayer of the Saints. (A crowd of holy
people for God) In
Revelation 5:8-10
we
can read about the “golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of the
saints. It is difficult and asks from us as saints persevering to pray, and
it seems to be
bitter,
mostly in the beginning, but it is as a well smelling smoke of the incense
for the Throne of God. It was horrible to experience the suffering
and death of
Jesus,
but is was His
love for the world
...For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John
3:16)
A free choice
of the Lord
Himself and its results to a
perfect solution for the fallen creation. The perfect solution for forgiving
of sin. God was well pleased with the offering
and sacrifice of
Yeshua
or
Jesus
Christ, because
it made possible the redemption of His fallen creation. He got you back!
(Ephesians 5:2;
Romans 8:18-24)…a sacrifice for God
as a sweet smelling savor!
Free
flowing also Yeshua's Blood!
It was horrible to
experience the suffering and death
of
Jesus,
but is was His
love for the world!
Kingly!
His free flowing love reveals
through
His
suffering & death on the
cross!
Sweet Cinnamon is a mild/moderate
dermal irritant and moderate mucous membrane irritant. Cinnamon
(Cinnamomum) is a small evergreen tree 10–15 meters (32.8–49.2
feet) tall, belonging to the family Lauraceae, native to Sri
Lanka and South India. The bark is widely used as a spice due to
its distinct odor. Its flavor is due to an aromatic essential
oil. This oil is prepared by roughly pounding the bark,
macerating it in seawater, and then quickly distilling the
whole. It is of a golden-yellow color, with the characteristic
odor of cinnamon and a very hot aromatic taste! Cinnamon comes
from the dried inner rind of a tree growing in Sri Lanka and the
islands of the Indian Ocean (Proverbs
7:17; Song 4:14; Revelation 18:13).
In love for His
Church Yeshua
suffered men’s cruelty
and through His jealousy for
His
Church He
purchased it from carnality!
Sweet Calamus (Acorus calamus) is
toxic because of the beta-asarone level. If used as a fragrance
ingredient! Only pure Calamus (Acorus calamus) is used in the
Holy Anointing Oil. That have been made with in Biblical days!
Calamus or Common Sweet Flag (Acorus
calamus) is a plant from the Acoraceae family, Acorus genues. It
is a tall perennial wetland monocot with scented leaves and
rhizomes which have been used medicinally, for its odor, and as
a psychotropic drug! This is a fragrant cane whose root is
highly prized as a spice! It grows in Arabia and India (Exodus
30:23; Song 4:14; Ezekiel 27:19).
Cassia
is a strong dermal sensitizer and moderate mucous membrane
irritant Cassia is also a genus of plants in the Family Fabaceae.
Cassia is an evergreen tree native to southern China and
Vietnam. Like its close relative, Cinnamon it is used primarily
for its aromatic bark, which is used as a spice. The buds are
also used as a spice, especially in India and in Ancient Rome.
The Cassia tree grows to 10-15 m tall, with greyish bark, and
hard elongated leaves 10-15 cm long, that have a decidedly
reddish color when young. Commonly called cassias, "cassia" is
also the English name of Cinnamomum aromaticum in the Lauraceae
(from which the spice cassiabark is derived) Cassia is the
aromatic bark of a shrub resembling cinnamon. It also grows in
various parts of the East (Psalm 45:8; Ezekiel 27:19). The fact
that cassia and the other spices were commanded to be used
proves the Israelites had contact with trading caravans which
visited Egypt, Syria, and Palestine!
Aromatic! Sweet
smelling anointing of
Yeshua!
The Son of G-d & High-Priest!
Cassia refers to: To bow down; worship the Son
of God!
Olive oil is a fruit oil
obtained from the olive a traditional tree crop of the
Mediterranean Basin. Olive oil is much healthier than other
sources of alimentary fat because of its high content of
monounsaturated fat and polyphenols with a powerful antioxidant
Hydroxytyrosol.
The Holy Anointing Oil (Exodus
30 Holy Oil) is not a general purpose anointing oil or perfume,
it is for consecration and sanctification purposes as stated in
the Old Testament scripture references: Exodus 28:41, 29:7,
29:36, 30:26, 30:30, 40:9, 40:10, 40:11, 40:13, 40:14.
The main ingredient is olive
oil, which has both secular and Sacred purposes. The olive tree
is very important in secular life cooking, cosmetics,
pharmaceuticals, and soaps and as a fuel for traditional oil
lamps….etc., and in religious life the Bible mentions it some 50
times. Pictured on the right, the olive tree has been a symbol
of peace and prosperity since the time the dove returned to
Noah’s Ark with an olive branch. The olive tree “epitomizes the
Spirit of the Lord” and for that reason it was forbidden to cut
it down in ancient times. Today, quality anointing oil is
generally made from the finest olive oil, pure myrrh, and
frankincense. Anointing with Oil was a common Biblical practice
which continues today. In the Scriptures, people, places
and things were anointed with Holy Oil! The ceremony of
“anointing with Holy Oil” means to make Sacred, to consecrate or
to set apart, and dedicate it for use unto our Creator! Yeshua
has the anointing as King, Prophet,Savior;
High Priest
and Son
of God!
Anointing with pure olive oil is
meant, as it was customary among Jews to carry such oil with
them in all their journeys, to anoint their bodies and heal
their wounds and bruises
(Luke 10:34).
Some of the original
ingredients have been lost in time, either because the herbs and
spices used in ancient times have disappeared or corresponding
names of today’s herbs and spices have changed!
A
hin was six quarts!
The fragrances of the spices are only to released by binding
together with the anointing oil!
The fragrances of the spices are only to released by binding
together with the anointing oil! For we are unto
God a sweet savor of Christ, in
them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are
the savor of death
unto death;
and to the other the savor of life unto life. (2 Corinthians
2:14-16)
Without the
Holy Spirit,
How will
Yeshua/Christ
stay with you?
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together
in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down
upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his
garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the
mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life
for evermore. (Psalm 133:1-3; KJV)
A the dew of Harmon (Christ),
(Psalm 1:33)
(Highest mountain in Israel) River Jordan (Church) to the Death Sea
(World) The dew becomes a river; Anointing of
Christ;
will multiply as a (Jordan) River and will become a sea! The Church
(Universal
Body of Christ!)
will touch the world!
Shekel
also rendered sheqel, refers to one of many ancient units of weight and
currency. The first known usage is from Mesopotamia around 3000 BC.
A shekel was originally 180 grains (8.33 grams). Another explanation is
given, that the word Shekel in Hebrew means to weigh; and the English
word "scale"
It most commonly refers to an ancient Hebrew unit of weight. As with
many ancient units, the shekel represented a variety of values depending
on date, domain and region. Sources quote weights between 9 and 17 grams
and values of 11, 14, and 17 grams are common. It can be a gold or
silver coin equal in weight to one of these units, especially the chief
silver coin of the Hebrews.
The shekel was commonly used among other western Semitic peoples as
well. Moabites, Edomites and Phoenicians all used the shekel, the latter
as coinage as well as for a unit of weight.
Since 1980,
the sheqel has been the currency of the modern state of Israel, first
the Israeli sheqel, then (since 1985) the Israeli new sheqel! (Picture of
shekels: Temple facade, the Ark of the Covenant within; star above)
Anoint the
tabernacle, ark, table of showbread and its vessels, the candlestick and
its vessels, altar of incense, the brazen altar and its vessels, the
laver and its foot, and sanctify them to be most holy (Exodus 30:26-29).
Anoint
Aaron and sons and consecrate them to be ministers (Exodus 30:30).
The holy
anointing oil is not to be poured on the flesh of any man (other than
priests, Exodus 30:30; Psalm 133:2),
and no man is to make any oil like it to be used in Israel (Exodus 30:31-32).
Whoever
makes any like it or puts it on a stranger shall die (Exodus 30:33).
"But
the anointing which
ye have received if Him abiddedt in you, and ye need not that any many
teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is
truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in
Him." (1 John 2:27)
"But you have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things." (1
John 2:20)
For we are unto God a sweet savor
of Christ,
in them that are saved, and them that are perish: To the one we are
the savor of death
unto death; and
to the other
the savor
of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? (2 Corinthians
2:15,16)
But my horn shall thou exalt like the horn of an
unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. (Psalm 92:10)
David was
being anointed with fresh oil!
1. His horn—power and authority)
(Psalm 92:10) 2. His head—anointed
with fresh oil 3. His eyes
(Psalm 92:11)
4.
His ears
The
term "fresh oil" in
the Scriptures
is translated from the Hebrew word: "Yitshar"! It is also most
frequently used in parallel with the term "New
wine" of the
Holy Spirit!
The Lord sent His twelve disciples out two by two, they took anointing
oil with them to use when anointing and healing the sick. (Matthew 10:8)
He gave them power! (Mark 6:12-13)
Just as Yeshua Messiah
sent His disciples out in the power of the
Holy Spirit
to pray, to anoint and heal the sick, which represented the
Holy Spirit
and people will be healed and delivered! He has planned for us to
minister in the same power that was manifested in
His
life to those around you!
Do
not spend your lives making provision for self-support before obeying
the call of God! Do not wait to save so much money until you have
something’s extra! GO WHEN YOU ARE CALLED and God will supply you!
(Matthew 10:9-10).
And they cast out
many devils, and
anointed with oil
many that were sick, and healed them. (Mark 6:13)
This is
a common practice in the early church among all Christians!
(James 5:14-16).
Anointing with oil and praying for the sick is also the ministry of the
Church today! God has given the Church the power of the
Holy Spirit
to do the same works that
He
did and even greater! We are directed to anoint the sick with oil,
believing that they will be healed! Going out preaching that men should
repent; healing the sick, raise the dead, cast out
devils!
Freely you have received, freely you will give!
(Mark 6:12; Matthew 10:8)Some of the
reasons why people cannot freely give are because they have not freely
received! (Denominational
walls; wrong doctrines; religious spirits; Control [jezebel spirit];
manipulations; all works of the enemy
of God inside the Church organizations; etc.!)
Our
purpose is to fulfill God’s perfect will, not to please or to
compromise with the leaders Church organizations, but being carriers of
God’s Holy
anointed oil
– the
anointing of theHoly Spirit
– with power!
That sacred
anointing
flowed through the Disciples and believers of the First Century Church,
releasing a Divine capability – a power and authority they never had
experienced before! The same Holy anointing is what we must have
flowing, unlimited, unhindered, TODAY! Without it, we will continue to
stay
in the position of
weakness, powerless and impotent!
It is because of the anointing that ‘every
yoke’ will
be broken and destroyed! The anointing of the
Holy Spirit
is God’s
seal
upon our life!
The Spirit
of the
Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good
tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them
that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day
of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them
that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy
for mourning, the garment of praise for the
spirit of heaviness; that they might be
called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might
be glorified. (Isaiah 61:1-3)
Oil of joy denotes that
which expresses joy and happiness. Oil was employed on occasions of
festivity and gladness
(Psalm 45:7)
God never intended for
just a few individuals within the Church to be anointed and having the
gifts and manifestations of
HisSpirit
flowing only through them! Just as God established a Holy Priesthood in
the
Scriptures
in Old Testament days and anointed
them with His Holy anointing oil, He is establishing and still doing it
today, a Holy Priesthood, of men and women who are saturated with His
Spirit;
walking in a demonstration of the fullness of His power to do the works
and establishing His Royal Kingdom into the nations of the world!
Anointing
with oil was a mean of dedication! A consecration to God!
(Genesis 28:18) Anointing oil was (still is!) a vital part of worship of ancient
Israelites’ and part of the sacrificial offerings that God required of
them!
(Deuteronomy 18:4) The oil was
necessary to provide light in the Holy of Holies!
(Exodus 27:21) The Holy
Anointing oil was used to consecrate the tabernacle and set everything
in it apart as Holy!
(Exodus 40:12-15; Leviticus 8:30) The Holy
Anointing oil was used to sanctify, consecrate and set apart Aaron and
his sons as a Holy Priesthood!
(Exodus 40:12-15; Leviticus 8:30) The
Holy Anointing oil was used for the anointing
of the tabernacle, ark, table of showbread and its vessels, the
candlestick and its vessels, altar of incense, the brazen altar and its
vessels, the laver and its foot, and sanctify them to be most holy
(Exodus 30:26-29).
The outward ritual of anointing with oil (poured out) signified the
choice of God, the calling of God, and the impartation of power for the
particular work one was called to do.
Priests,
prophets, and
kings were all anointed. If they carried out their calling they had
God's support!
(1 Samuel
10:6; 2 Samuel 2:4-7; 1 King 1:39; 19:15; 2 Kings 9:3; 23:30; 2
Corinthians 23:11?)
Oil is representative of the joy released
by the Holy Spirit,
that which expresses joy and happiness in our life!
(Psalm
45:7; Isaiah 6:3-1?)
Anointing with oil is representative of the full supply of the
Holy Spirit
necessary to be ready for the return of Yeshua Messiah!
(Matthew 25:1-12)
(Parable of 10 virgins) Anointed
with oil many that were "sick"
was a common practice in the early church among all Christians
(James 5:14-16)
Anointing with oil was been used as an act of
courtesy and hospitality toward guests
(Luke 7:46)
Anointing with pure
olive
oil is
meant, as it was customary among Jews to carry such oil with them in all
their journeys, to anoint their bodies and heal their wounds and bruises
(Luke 10:34). It
doesn't mean that olive oil was a cure for all kinds of diseases, but it
has a disinfection - working and it softened the pain of certain wounds!
One of the Pharisees asked
Jesus to dine with him and He went into the
Pharisee's house and reclined at table. And behold, a woman of the town
who was an especially
wicked sinner, when she learned that He was
reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of
ointment (perfume). And standing behind Him at His feet weeping, she
began to wet His feet with [her] tears; and she wiped them with the hair
of her head and kissed His feet [affectionately] and anointed them with
the ointment (perfume). (Luke 7: 36-38)
Then turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, Do you see this woman?
When I came into your house, you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has
wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave Me no
kiss, but she from the moment I came in has not ceased intermittently] to
kiss My feet tenderly and caressingly. You did not anoint My head with
[cheap, ordinary] oil, but she has anointed My feet with [costly, rare]
perfume. (Luke 7: 44-46)
(1) At the beginning of
Yeshua's
ministry, at Simon the Pharisee's house in Capernaum, a woman anointed Jesus' feet as an act of faith and an
expression of her love! (she was NOT Mary Magdalene, not Magdalena on the Sea
of Galilee!) She was known in Nain as a sinner (39). Mary is mentioned in
Luke 8:2.
Yeshua
told Simon: My head with oil thou
didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
(Luke 7:46) Yeshua
told the
woman: AndHe
said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.( Luke 7:48) ...Thy faith hath
saved thee; go in peace. (Luke 7:50) This was the first of the three anointing of
Yeshua. Here in these
Scriptures and twice during the week just before
His
crucifixion & death! Eastern people in that
time reclined on couches at meals with the feet’s outward behind them.
The woman came back for
Yeshua
and shed tears on
His
feet’s. Anointing with olive oil mixed with fragrant and costly spices was
customary in the coronation of Kings,
(2 Kings 11:2),
installing High Priest,
(Psalm 133:2),
to anoint to be a
Prophet
(1 Kings 19:16)
and an act of courtesy and hospitality towards guest!(Luke
7:46).To
anoint the face was an act of joy!
(Psalm 45:7; Hebrews 1:9).
Neglect of anointing self is an act of mourning.
(2 Samuel 14:2;
Daniel 10:3; Matthew 6:17-18). It was a custom that
men greet each other with a kiss, not only relatives, but also others!
Kissing was an act of homage. It was also customary among first Century
Christians!
This Mary was the one who anointed the Lord with perfume and wiped His
feet with her hair. It was her brother Lazarus who was [now] sick. (John
11:2)
So SIX days before the Passover Feast, Jesus came to Bethany, where
Lazarus was, who had died and whom He had raised from the dead.
So they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those
at the table with Him.
Mary took a pound of ointment of pure liquid nard [a rare perfume] that
was very expensive, and she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped them with
her hair. And the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the
perfume. But Judas Iscariot, the one of His disciples who was about to
betray Him, said, Why was this perfume not sold for 300 denarii’s [a
year's wages for an ordinary workman] and that [money] given to the poor
(the destitute)? Now he did not say this because he cared for the poor but
because he was a thief; and having the bag (the money box, the purse of
the Twelve), he took for himself what was put into it [pilfering the
collections]. But Jesus said, Let her alone. It was [intended] that she
should keep it for the time of My preparation for burial. [She has kept it
that she might have it for the time of My embalming] You always have the
poor with you, but you do not always have Me. (John 12:1-8)
(2) Six days before the Passover and before
Yeshua' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, He was in Bethany at the home
of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. There, Mary anointed Yeshua' feet with
spikenard, which was a very rare and costly perfume, the equivalent of a
year's wages!
Mary took a pound of ointment of pure liquid nard [a rare perfume] that
was very expensive, and she poured it on
Jesus'
feet and wiped them with her hair. And the whole house was filled with the
fragrance of the perfume. (John 12:3) This anointing was a prophetic act! It was done in preparation of
His
crucifixion; death & burial! When Judas was complaining, the Lord told him:
"...Let her alone. It was [intended] that
she should keep it for the time of
My
preparation for burial. ...you do not always have
Me".
When Jesus had ended this discourse, He said to His disciples, You know
that the Passover is in two days--and the Son of Man will be delivered up
treacherously to be crucified. Then the chief priests and the elders of
the people gathered in the [open] court of the palace of the high priest,
whose name was Caiaphas, And consulted together in order to arrest Jesus
by stratagem secretly and put Him to death. But they said, It must not be
during the Feast, for fear that there will be a riot among the people.
Now when Jesus came back to Bethany and was in the house of Simon the
leper; A woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very
precious perfume and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table.
And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, for what
purpose is all this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a
large sum and the money given to the poor. But Jesus, fully aware of
this, said to them, why do you bother the woman? She has done a noble
(praiseworthy and beautiful) thing to Me. For you always have the poor
among you, but you will not always have Me. In pouring this perfume on My
body she has done something to prepare Me for My burial. Truly I tell
you, wherever this good news (the Gospel) is preached in the whole world,
what this woman has done will be told also, in memory of her. (Matthew 26:1-13)
It was now TWO days before the
Passover and the Feast of Unleavened
Bread, and the chief priests and
the scribes were all the while seeking to arrest [Jesus] by secrecy and
deceit and put [Him] to death,
For they kept saying, It must not be during the Feast, for fear that
there might be a riot of the people. 3And while He was in Bethany, [a
guest] in the house of Simon the leper, as He was reclining [at table], a
woman came with an alabaster jar of ointment (perfume) of pure nard, very
costly and precious; and she broke the jar and poured [the perfume] over
His head. But there were some who were moved with indignation and said to
themselves, to what purpose was the ointment (perfume) thus wasted? For
it was possible to have sold this [perfume] for more than 300 denari’s [a
laboring man's wages for a year] and to have given [the money] to the
poor. And they censured and reproved her. But Jesus said, Let her alone;
why are you troubling her? She has done a good and beautiful thing to Me
[praiseworthy and noble]. For you always have the poor with you, and
whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you will not always have
Me. 8She has done what she could; she came beforehand to anoint My
body for the burial. And surely I tell you, wherever the good news (the
Gospel) is proclaimed in the entire world, what she has done will be told
in memory of her. (Mark 14:1-9; Amp.)
(3) There were two anointing's in the last week! One in the
house of Lazarus; six days before the Passover! The other or the third
anointing was in the house of Simon the (ex)-leper in Bethany; two
days before the Passover! Again there was a woman who anointed Yeshua' head with very expensive perfume!
Now when Jesus came back to Bethany and was in the house of Simon the
leper; A woman came up to Him with an alabaster flask of very
precious perfume and she poured it on His head as He reclined at table.
(Mark 14:6-7)
When the disciples again complained, the Lord told them:
..."But Jesus, fully aware of
this, said to them, why do you bother the woman? She has done a noble
(praiseworthy and beautiful) thing to Me. For you always have the poor
among you, but you will not always have Me In pouring this perfume on My
body she has done something to prepare Me for My burial".(Matthew 26:10-12)
There was another anointing of
Jesus
earlier in
His
Ministry in the house of Simon the Pharisee in Capernaum at the
beginning of
Yeshua's
ministry! (1)
Jesus
was anointed on
His
head, feet’s and body! There were three anointing's total! There
are also several points of difference between them in these
Scriptures!
To anoint with pour pure
olive oil upon someone is a sign of consecration and was a customary, also
in the early church among all Christians. It was mostly mixed with
fragrant and costly spices. Also to anoint the head with oil and even the
body for burial! In these passages here is it a devotional act of
sacrificial worship to the Lord! Remember the oil was very precious and
costly!
Anointing of your head, when
you are going to fast! But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and
wash thy face (Matthew 6:17)
Is
any sick among
you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over
him, anointing
him with oil in
the name of the Lord:
(James 5:14)The actions the
elders have to do for the
sick
is pray over them with the prayer of faith
(James 5:14, 15); Anoint them with oil
(James 5:14);
Invoke theName of
Yeshua, the Messiah
(James 5:14)
No doubt pure olive oil
is meant, as it was customary among Ancient Jews to carry such oil with
them in all their journeys, to anoint their bodies and heal their wounds
and bruises
(Luke 10:34).
This anointing was merely symbolic of the healing of God by
the Holy Spirit
(Mark 6:13).
It doesn't mean that olive oil was a cure for all kinds of diseases. The
oil itself did not heal, for one would not have to pray and invoke
the name of Jesus
Christ
merely to anoint with oil, nor would it have to be done by the elders of
the church
He had been
sick. It would be also a physical breakdown
rather than some disease.
The Greek verb for "he had been
sick" is
astheneo to be weak or feeble in any sense.
And they cast out many
devils, and
anointed with oil many that were sick, and
healed them. (Mark 6:13)
A common practice in
the early church among all Christians!
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the
laying on of the hands of the presbytery. (1 Timothy 4:14)
This refers to the
gifts and graces of God given to Timothy, enabling him to do the same
works that Paul did
(1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6; 1 Corinthians 16:10).
Such power was given by
prophecy
and the
laying on of hands. The
prophecy
was some prediction that Timothy would be used of God
(1 Timothy 1:18; 1 Timothy 4:14). The way that prophets in
the Old Testament anoint kings, leaders, man, into their called (by God)
office, is NOT perish for the day of today!
Yeshua
did not put away the laws, but fulfill it!
For
what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending His own Son
in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the
flesh: (Romans 8:3)
Justify
(Acts 13:38-39; Galatians 2:16)
Free from
sin and death
(Romans 8:2)
Free from
condemnation
(Romans 8:1-4)
Redeem
(Romans 3:24-31;Galatians 3:13-14)
Give
inheritance
(Romans 4:13-14)
Impart grace
(Galatians 5:4)
Make perfect
(Hebrews 7:19)
Control sin
in man
(Romans 7:7-23; 8:2)
Keep
man from sin
(Romans 7:7-23; 8:7)
Enable a man to obey
(Hebrews 7:18)
Weak; impotent: The
law was powerless to control the flesh, for sin already had control of
it before the law came
(Romans 5:20; Galatians 3:19).
Sin would not permit the flesh to obey the
law
(Romans 7:7-23)
More reasons to
anoint with olive oil
someone from the
weaknesses
and claim victory
in the Name
of Yeshua HaMashiach!
To anoint with pour pure
olive oil upon someone is a sign of consecration!
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my
feet with ointment. (Luke 7:46) Anointing with
olive oil mixed with fragrant and costly spices, was customary in the
coronation of kings
(2 Kings 11:12),
Installing high priests
(Psalm 133:2),and an
act of courtes!
Hospitality toward guests!
(Luke 7:46). (Psalm 23:5; 92:10; 105:15; Deuteronomy 28:40; Ruth 3:3;
Ecclesiast 9:8; Micah 6:15; Matthew 6:17). Neglect of
anointing self was an act of mourning
(2
Samuel 14:2; Daniel 10:3; Matthew 6:17-18). To anoint the
face was a sign of joy
(Psalm 45:7; Hebrews 1:9)
The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointedMe
to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the
brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of
sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (Luke 4:18;
KJV)
The
Spirit of
the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed
me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of
the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of
the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that
mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty
for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the
spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. (Isaiah 61:1-3;
KJV)
The
anointing – the presence of G-D upon a certain chosen & sanctified
person; giving His approval to accomplish G-D Divine purpose!
(1) The
gospel to the poor (the destitute, needy)
(2) Deliverance to captives in sin, sickness, and death(Acts 10:38; Ephesians 4:8-10; Hebrews 2:14-15) (3) The
acceptable year or period typified by the year of jubilee when liberty
was proclaimed to all people on the Day of Atonement
(Leviticus 25:8-13).
When the atonement of
Christ
is fully embraced, the sick, sinful, helpless, and needy are
