HistoryAboriginal Malays (Orang Asli) began moving down the Malay peninsula from south-western China. The peninsula came under the rule of the Cambodian-based Funan, the Sumatran-based Srivijaya and the Java-based Majapahit empires, before the Chinese arrived in Melaka in 1405. Melaka's wealth soon attracted European powers, and the Portuguese took control in 1511, followed by the Dutch in 1641. The British established a thriving port in Penang in 1786 and took over Melaka in 1795. Britain took formal control of both Sabah and Sarawak after WWII. The indigenous labour supply was insufficient for the needs of the developing rubber and tin industries, so the British brought large numbers of Indians into the country, altering the peninsula's racial mix. "Selamat Datang"! or Welcome! TO: The Christian Ministries amongst the Aboriginal Tribes in the Peninsula Malaysia since 1980! .... JEKOA is the abbreviation for Jemaah Kristen Orang Asli, the Orang Asli Christian Church. The term "Orang Asli (OA)" means the original inhabitants or natives. .... The JEKOA Church is an indeginous organisation with her own constitution. It is an Evangelical Church working amongst the diverse tribes living in West Malaysia (Peninsula Malaysia). The beginning of Christian mission started in the early 1930. The Methodist Mission employed the Bataks (the Sumatran Christians missionaries) to start works in Tapah among the Semai. Hampered by lack of understanding in their primal beliefs and the many quick changing events during and after the Second World War, the Orang Asli Church could not exist independently from the sending Churches, which included the Methodist, Lutheran, and the Gospel Hall. The Training Centre started out as a vision but is now a reality since early 1990's (known as AM'IN was dedicated to The Lord on 1 May 1993) TERIMA KASIH - THANK YOU - XIE-XIE! Since 1980, Bill Wilson and Metro Ministries have pioneered the human wasteland of forgotten inner-cities. Their mission is to find and rescue the children left behind in this battleground of drugs, violence and abuse. This was a struggle that could only be won with the power of God. With enormous faith and persistence, Bill began Sunday Schools and the Won-By-One Children's Sponsorship Program, a unique way to partner Christians with an inner city child.
