102....--...Self Denial required to follow Jesus - Losing your old life style

{24} Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. {25} For whoever will save his life shall lose it: and whoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. {26} For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? {27} For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. {28} Truly I say unto you, There are some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Matthew 16:24-28 ----------------------------------------------------------

{34} And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. {35} For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. {36} For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? {37} Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? {38} Whoever therefore is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. {9:1} And he said to them, Truly I say to you, That some of them that stand here, shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Mark 8:34-38, 9:1 ----------------------------------------------------------------

{23} And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. {24} For whoever will save his life shall lose it: but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. {25} For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? {26} For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. {27} But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. Luke 9:23-27

{1} And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up unto a high mountain apart, {2} And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his clothing was white as the light. {3} And, behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with him. {4} Then answered Peter, and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you will, let us make here three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. {5} While he yet spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him. {6} And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were very afraid. {7} And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and don't be afraid. {8} And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. {9} And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. {10} And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah must come first ? {11} And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall come first, and restore all things.

12} But I say to you, That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done to him whatever they pleased. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. {13} Then the disciples understood that he spoke unto them of John the Baptist. Matthew 17:1-13,
