108 -------------------------The Cost of following Jesus
19} And a certain scribe came, and said to him, Master, I will follow you wherever you go. {20} And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head. {21} And another of his disciples said to him, Lord, Allow me first to go and bury my father. {22} But Jesus said to him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. Matthew 18:19-22 ------------------------------------------------------
{57} And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said to him, Lord, I will follow you wherever you go. {58} And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head. {59} And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, Allow me first to go and bury my father. {60} Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead: but you go and preach the kingdom of God. {61} And another also said, Lord, I will follow you; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. {62} And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. .... Luke 9:57-62
{2} Now the Jews' Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. {3} His brothers said to him, Depart and go into Judaea, that your disciples also may see the works that you do. {4} For there is no man that does any thing in secret, and he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world. {5} For neither did his brothers believe in him. {6} Then Jesus said to them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. {7} The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that the it's works are evil. {8} You gp up to this feast: I am not going up yet to this feast: for my time is not yet fully come.
How to know the will of God
{9} When he had said these words to them, he stayed still in Galilee. {10} But when his brothers had gone up, then he went also up to the Feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. {11} Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? {12} And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, No; but he deceives the people. {13} However no man spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews. .John 7:2-13 -14} Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. {15} And the Jews marvelled, saying, How does this man know letters, having never learned? {16} Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. {17} If any man will to do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God, .. John 7:14-17a - {18} He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. {19} Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you go about to kill me? {20} The people answered and said, You have a devil: who goes about to kill you? {21} Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and you all marvel. {22} Moses gave you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and you on the sabbath day circumcise a man. {23} If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are you angry at me, because I have made a man every bit whole on the sabbath day? {24} Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
