115 ----------Jesus appoints 35 more teams to go ahead of him
{1} After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two ahead of him into every city and place, where he himself was about to come. {2} And he said he to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. {3} Go your way: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. {4} Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man on the road. {5} And into whatever house you enter, first say, Peace be to this house. {6} And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. {7} And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. {8} And into whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: {9} And heal the sick that are in it, and say to them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. {10} But into whatever city you enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, {11} Even the very dust of your city, which clings on us, we do wipe off against you: nevertheless be sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come near to you. {12} But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. .. Luke 10:1-12
The Peril of Rejecting God's Messengers
{13} Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. {14} But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. {15} And you, Capernaum, which are exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell. {16} He that hears you hears me; and he that despises you despises me; and he that despises me despises him that sent me. ...Luke 10:13-16 .............................................
20 Then he began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: 21 Woe unto you, Chorazin! woe unto you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, which are exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to Hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say to you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you. ... Matthew 11 :20-24
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. . Matthew 38-45
The return of the Seventy
{17} And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through your name. {18} And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. {19} Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. {20} Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. {21} In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and has revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in your sight. {22} All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him. {23} And he turned to his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see: {24} For I tell you, that many Prophets and Kings have desired to see those things which you see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which you hear, and have not heard them. ... Luke 10:17-24
