116 ...........................................The Good Samaritan

{25} And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? {26} He said to him, What is written in the Law? how do you read it? {27} And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself. {28} And he said to him, You have answered right: do this, and you shall live. {29} But he, willing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

The Story

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his clothes, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the next day when he departed, he took out two denarii ( two days wages ) , and gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you

The Interpretation

{36} Which now of these three, do you think, was neighborly to him that fell among the thieves? {37} And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus to him, Go, and do likewise. Luke 10:25-37

Jesus is received into the Home of Martha and Mary

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42

Jesus Teaches his disciples how to pray ...Luke 11:1-4

1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said to them, When you pray, say, Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,on earth as it is in Heaven. 3 Give us this day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
