LAYERING AND COMPOSITING: ADDING TRACKS With VideoShop, you have the capability&emdash;to play multiple clip simultaneously.

To add a Sound track: Click and hold the Add Track button on the Project window. From the pop-up menu, choose SoundTrack. A new sound track is added above the top video track. Click the Import button in the Bin window. The Import dialog appears. Double-click on a sound file to add it to the Import list, and click Done. The file is imported into the Bin andappears with a sound file icon. Import the sound file Drag the file onto the new sound track and release it over the clip.Slide the clip so that it is aligned with the beginning of the video clip.

RUBBERBANDS allow you to adjust the volume of sound clips. The rubberbands are shown as black lines across the bottoms of tracks. To adjust volume with the Rubberbands: Move the mouse over the rubberband in the sound clip. When placed over the rubberband, the cursor appears as a Pointed finger cursor. Click on the rubberband a short distance from the beginning of the clip.A rubberband handle is created which is used to adjust the rubberband. NOTE You can remove a rubberband handle by clicking and dragging it off the track. Click the Fade In button in the Project window. The rubberband is automatically adjusted so the sound clip fades in. Move to the end of the clip and click on the rubberband a short distance from the end. Click on the Fade Out button in the Project window. The rubberband is automatically adjusted to fade the sound out at the end of the clip.

ADDING VIDEO TRACKS - Click anywhere on the Project window to activate it. Click and hold the Add Track button onthe Project window. From the pop-up menu, choose Video Track. A new video track is added above the other tracks.

To create a Picture-in-Picture movie: Click the Import button in the Bin win-dow. The Import dialog appears. Double-click the video clip and click Done.The clip is imported into the Bin. Drag the clip onto the new video track, near the beginning of the movie. Slide the clip all the way to the left until it's at the first frame of the movie. Press COMMAND-1.- or -Drag the Canvas window shuttle to the beginning of the movie The clip is the same size as the clip below it, so it obscures it from view. We have to resize the clip in the Canvas window. Click on the image in the Canvas. A marquee appears around the clip. Move the cursor to the bottom right corner of the clip.The cursor changes into Double Arrow cursor. Hold down the mouse and move the cursor towards the top left corner of the Canvas window to resize the clip.Watch the Size readouts in the upper right corner of the Canvas window and resize the clip to 60 x 40.

To reposition a clip in the Canvas window: Click on the clip in the Canvas window. The cursor changes into a Four Arrow cursor.Hold down the mouse and drag the clip to the upper right corner of the Canvas window.Watch the Top and Left readouts and release the clip when they display Top:0 and Left:100. These are the distances the clip was move from the top and left edges of the Canvas.

To set the volume level of a clip using the rubberbands: Place the cursor over the black rubber-band handle at the beginning of the clip.Drag the rubberband handle down to about 1/3 of its original height.Watch the Position readouts when moving clips Drag the starting rubberband handle down to about 1/3 of the volume level Drag the rubberband handle at the end of the clip down to the same level.
