WEB MEDIA SCHOOL session 37 -OUTLOOK EXPRESS (MAC) PT 4
About groups -To efficiently send
messages to a set of people, such as business associates, relatives,
or club members, you can create groups in your Address Book. This way
you can address e-mail to the group instead of entering each address
individually. You can include any members you want in a group,
whether or not they are in your Address Book. You can also include a
group as a member of another group.
Create a group Click Address Book. Click New Group. In the
Group Name box, type a name for the group. Click Add, and then add
members to the group. Click Save Group. If you would prefer that
message recipients not see the addresses of other group members,
select the Don't show addresses when
sending to group check box.
Add a member to a group -Click Address Book. Double-click the group you want to add a member to.Click Add, and then do one of the following: To add a person or another group from your Address Book, type the first few letters of the person or group's name, and then click the appropriate entry on the pop-up menu. To add a person who is not in your Address Book, type the person's e-mail address &emdash; holyword@gte.net - for example. Click Save Group.
Remove a member from a group -Click Address Book. Double-click the group you want to remove a member from. Click the member you want to remove, and then click Remove. Click Save Group.
Delete a group -Click Address Book. Click the group you want to delete, and then click Delete.
Import from an application - You can import information, such as mail, contacts, and rules, directly from Qualcomm Eudora (any version), Netscape Communicator 4.0 or later, Claris Emailer 2.0v3, and previous versions of Outlook Express. You can import contact information from a text file that was exported from any program, including spreadsheet and database programs. The text file must be exported in tab-delimited or comma-delimited format. (In such files, either a tab or a comma indicates the end of one data entry and the beginning of the next.) You can import mail from a text file in two ways. If you save a message from Outlook Express to your desktop, you can import the message to your Outlook Express Inbox. You can also import messages saved as an MBOX format text file. Some programs allow you to export your e-mail as this type of file, which stores many messages in a single text file. When you import an MBOX format text file to Outlook Express, the imported messages appear in your Inbox. If you are importing from Netscape Communicator, you can speed up the process. Before you import, select each of your mail folders in Communicator, and then click Compress Folder on the File menu.
